Basic Life Support Renewal Course for Southern California Healthcare Providers

BLS (CPR/AED) FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS - RENEWAL

This course is for Healthcare Professionals who need to renew their BLS certification on how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. This course is an educational program jointly sponsored by the American Heart Association (AHA).

The Course Covers:

• Adult & Pediatric CPR - This section of the course focuses on the critical techniques of performing CPR on adults and children, emphasizing the differences in procedures. Learning these skills is essential for healthcare providers to effectively respond to cardiac emergencies in various settings, enhancing their ability to save lives.
• Two-Rescuer Scenarios & use of the Bag/Valve Mask - Participants will learn how to efficiently work in teams during a resuscitation effort. This includes mastering the coordination between chest compressions and ventilation using a bag-valve mask, a crucial skill in advanced resuscitation scenarios.
• Foreign-Body Airway Obstruction (Conscious & Unconscious) - The course covers strategies for effectively clearing airway obstructions in both conscious and unconscious patients. This training is vital for preventing asphyxiation and ensuring patient safety during such emergencies.
• Automated External Defibrillation (Includes Child AED Update) - This module provides comprehensive training on the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), including updates on the latest guidelines for children. AED proficiency is critical for improving survival rates in cases of sudden cardiac arrest.
• Special Resuscitation Situations - This part of the course delves into less common but equally important resuscitation scenarios, equipping healthcare providers with the knowledge to handle a wide range of emergencies.
• Other Cardiopulmonary Emergencies - Participants will learn about various cardiopulmonary emergencies and the appropriate responses to these situations, broadening their expertise in emergency medical care.
• Stroke & Cardiac Arrest - The course provides in-depth information on recognizing the signs of stroke and cardiac arrest, along with the latest treatment protocols. This knowledge is crucial for immediate intervention and improving patient outcomes.

You may select the renewal course ONLY if your card is still valid or has expired within the last 6 months. Please bring a copy of your card on the day of the course. If your card does not meet Renewal requirements, you will be switched to the initial course and pay the difference.
